Unfortunately the More I watch his videos , the more one dimensional his technique becomes . There’s a lot more to drumming than just flashy technique - even if it’s impressive , the ability to interpret and adapt to various styles and tempos with appropriate drumming is what makes the song better and is a higher goal . That’s why Ringo go was a great drummer - not for his technique but for his ability to hear what was needed for the Beatles quirky styles and what made the sone more interesting. He had enough technique to create what he needed - which is the only reason to develop it - not for it in itself , except as a teaching tool . Diepold seems content to play exactly one level - no dynamics whatever , very machine like with little feeling . I’m not impressed so far - hope he can branch out and show us some other chops in other genres . He seems like a very good guy though
